Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelets are tiny blood cells made in your bone marrow. Tissue healing is one of many known functions of platelets. They are a natural source of growth factors and many other substances that are essential to maintaining healthy tissues and ensuring the body’s repair and regeneration.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a preparation of autologous human plasma with an increased platelet count and therefore concentrated growth factors.
PRP stimulates or speeds up the natural healing process, improving blood supply to the affected area, shortening healing time for injuries, reducing pain and assisting with the regain of function. It is also effective in treating male pattern hair loss and decreasing signs of aging in the skin.

How is PRP Administered?
To create PRP, the patient’s own blood is drawn and then separated into platelet-rich and platelet-poor components. The separation is done in a centrifuge. The resulting platelet-rich plasma is then used to rejuvenate the face and body in the comfort of our office. Platelet-rich plasma therapy uses a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of skin, injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. Activated platelets are injected directly into target areas to support healing and anti-aging.
The Benefits of PRP:
To rejuvenate the face
The platelet-rich plasma is injected in a grid over the area of interest. The skin then attracts vascularity, deposits collagen and elastin and takes on a more youthful look. It helps plump the skin to treat texture, fine lines and volume. People who have had the PRP facial treatment find their faces look even better several months after the treatments. That’s because the enriched plasma stimulates the skin’s stem cells to produce more collagen, grow new cells and literally rejuvenate the skin. The new cell growth in your skin generated by the PRP takes weeks to months, which is why it looks so much better after more time has passed.

Dark Circles
There can be many causes of dark, baggy circles under the eyes but for those that are pigment-related, platelet-rich plasma can be injected under the skin around the eyes. Over time, the plasma stimulates the skin and causes a regenerative phase. The plasma also cleans the skin pigments that create dark circles and grows healthy skin to replace tired tissue. Generally a single treatment is sufficient.
Hair Restoration
PRP is being used more and more to re-awaken dying or dormant hair follicles and restore thinning hair because an application in enriched plasma has been shown to stimulate follicles into growth. PRP can be used as an adjunct to hair replacement and thickens hair rather than growing it from a completely bald spot. It can be particularly effective around the eyebrows as well as the scalp.

Body Restoration
PRP can be injected into tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints to speed up repair and healing. This allows people to get back to activity faster and perform better.
